Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Cultural Introduction

Highlights:
Scenic Himalayan landing • Paro Rinpung Dzong • National Museum • Kyichu Lhakhang

Details:
Arrive at Paro International Airport and meet your guide. Begin your journey with visits to:

  • Ta Dzong (National Museum) – Showcasing Bhutan’s spiritual and cultural artifacts

  • Paro Rinpung Dzong – A majestic fortress overlooking the valley

  • Kyichu Lhakhang – One of Bhutan’s oldest and holiest temples

Day 2: Paro – Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Highlights:
Taktshang (Tiger’s Nest) • Forest hike • Sacred experience

Details:
Embark on the unforgettable hike to Taktshang Monastery, perched 900m above the valley floor. Said to be the meditation site of Guru Rinpoche, this is Bhutan’s most iconic landmark.

Evening: Relax at a café or visit Paro town

Day 3: Paro – Drive to Thimphu

Tachogang Bridge • Buddha Dordenma • Memorial Chorten • Tashichho Dzong

Details:
Drive to Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu, stopping at Tachogang Bridge, a 15th-century iron chain bridge.

In Thimphu, visit:

  • Buddha Dordenma, a massive golden statue with views over the valley

  • Memorial Chorten, a spiritual hub for local devotees

  • Tashichho Dzong, home to the King’s office and the monastic body

Day 4: Thimphu – Dochula Pass – Punakha

After breakfast, head east via the panoramic Dochula Pass (3,100m) with 108 stupas and views of the Himalayas.

Arrive in Punakha and explore:

  • Punakha Dzong, Bhutan’s most beautiful fortress located at the confluence of two rivers

Optional: Visit the nunnery retreat center or enjoy riverside meditation

Day 5: Punakha – Chimi Lhakhang – Wangdue – Drive to Trongsa

Details:
Start the day with a walk to Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility. Then continue east through Wangduephodrang and over the Pele La Pass, known for its rhododendron forests and yak herders.

Reach Trongsa, the central gateway of Bhutan. Visit:

  • Trongsa Dzong, a sprawling fortress perched high above a gorge

Day 6: Trongsa – Drive to Bumthang

Yutong La Pass • Jakar Dzong • Traditional village visit

Details:
Journey into Bumthang Valley, the cultural heart of Bhutan. En route, cross Yutong La Pass (3,400m). Upon arrival:

  • Visit Jakar Dzong, known as the Castle of the White Bird

  • Explore a nearby village farmstay or enjoy a peaceful countryside walk

Day 7: Bumthang Exploration

Kurje Lhakhang • Tang Valley excursion • Ogyen Choling Museum (optional)

Spend the day exploring Bumthang’s sacred sites:

  • Tamshing Lhakhang, known for its spiritual artifacts
    Optional: Excursion to Tang Valley and the Ogyen Choling Heritage Museum, or relax in the valley

Overnight in Bumthang

Day 8: Bumthang – Fly or Drive to Paro

Highlights:
Scenic domestic flight (weather permitting) • Leisure time in Paro

Details:
Depending on flight availability, return to Paro via domestic flight or scenic overland journey. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Evening: Optional hot stone bath, Bhutanese dress photoshoot, or farewell dinner
